An unusual features of this 11 acre mixed woodland are that there are areas of original heathland which exist within open areas of the wood. This rare original heathland is protected and with its combination of habitats and biodiversity has resulted in an area of ecological importance.

Working in partnership with Bluesci Support, a mental health and wellbeing organisation (www.bluesci.org.uk)  the woodland is being surveyed and recorded to conserve the unique habitats and provide controlled access to its wellbeing properties.
